Hello blogosphere! I don't know what to say, really. I am in my 20's and I am learning to sew. I want to make costumes and clothing tailored for me. I am starting from the very beginning. The last time I sewed anything, I was in 8th grade and taking Home Economics. I never got to use a sewing machine, it was all handsewing.

I'm going to use this blog as a way of gauging my sewing progress over time. I will also review patterns and describe the skill sets I've learned with each pattern.

My first project is a Butterick dress:

Here's a mock up of the dress:

The instructions and diagrams are very clear. I'm working on the dress bodice using good fabric. I will finish it up tonight and try to get the skirt done tomorrow. I am going out to dinner at a fancy schmancy place on Saturday and want it to be done before then, if possible.

The good fabric is 100% polyester that I purchased at JoAnn's. It is not the easiest to work with, but it isn't terribly difficult either. It takes some patience and extra time. I am sure more experienced sewers would have no issues with it.

  1. I'm so happy you started a sewing blog! I look forward to keeping up with your posts. Will you also post your blogposts to FB? I hope so! You might want to think about adding a few gadgets so people can follow your blog more easily, like bloglovin and a way people can get your updates via e-mail.

    1. Aw, thanks. I am glad too. Yes, I will post some of my entries to Facebook. When the dress is completed, I plan on talking about the trials and tribulations I've experienced putting it together and I think that might be a good one to share.

What kind of gadgets would you recommend?
